National Weather Radio Information Locator
Database last updated Sometime recently!Welcome to the NWR locator. This page retrieves information about National Weather Radio sites from a mySQL database. It is updated periodically (approximately every 4 weeks) by a Perl script that scans that NWR home page (located here). To retrieve information, use the selection boxes to set the search criteria. For instance, to locate all NWR transmitters on 162.550 MHz, select 162.55 in the frequency list, and click the submit button. The search can be further qualified by filling in one or more of the other fields. To narrow the search to all transmitters on 162.550 MHz in Georgia (GA), select 162.55 from the frequency list, and GA from the coverage or transmitter state list and click submit. Note that not every combination of fields will produce results, i.e. selecting a coverage city of Atlanta, and a coverage state of MN (Maine) will produce a 'No records found' message. NWR transmitters will sometimes cover adjacent states or territories. A transmitter in west Tennessee (TN) may serve Mississippi (MS). In addition, some areas are assigned SAME (Specific Area Message Encoding) IDs, but have no transmitter coverage. All 50 states are included, as are the four territories of Guam (GM), the North Mariana Islands (MP), Puerto Rico (PR), and the U.S. Virgin Islands (VI). Note that by leaving all fields blank all possible records will be returned. This can yield a page thats nearly 600K, which not only can take some time to download, but will cause the browser to pause for a very long time while it contructs the table. After the table is displayed, use the browers BACK button to return to this page. |
